According to some hints from Matt Cutts of GoogleGoogle last week, the speed of websites may very well be added to the algorithm Google uses for ranking sites.

“We’re starting to think more and more about should speed be a factor in Google’s rankings?” He told WebProNews in a video interview.

So companies everywhere must be scrambling to find out what their site speed is, and how they can improve it. And if they’re not – they should be!

Pingdom gives you great granular information about your site – it breaks down every single object on your site – and how long it took to load.

If you don’t need ALL the info, and just want to see the site info – it’s all the way on the bottom right hand side.

The iWebTool.com Speed Test

iWebTool.com has a cute little speed test that allows you to enter your URL into a text box, and submit. The results are just as minimalistic as the submission process – and only give you three factors: Size, Load Time, and SpeedSpeed reviews. Which is all you really need. The downsite is that it only gives you 5 checks. So if you want to check your competitors – use your tries wisely. Or just use a different service.

WebToolHub.com is probably the more Web 2.0 type site-speed analyzing site I’ve seen so far.  Just type your URL in, and get results. There’s a simple check box asking if you want advanced info – so if you don’t – you don’t have to see all the mumbo jumbo. After you get your results – you can share it in a million different ways – including TwitterTwitter and FacebookFacebook.
