"I'm Talkin' to You!" Facebook Targeted Updates for Business Pages

FacebookFacebookFacebook is one of those platforms where the saying “The only certain thing to happen is change” really holds true.

The question with Facebook is never “will they revisit their layout?” but “when is the next feature coming out, and what will it do?” Especially when it comes to business involvement on Facebook – things have been moving rapidly. They went from Businesses having to have private profiles, to non-GoogleGoogleGoogle-indexable groups, to Fan Pages. What progress!

So here’s the next development on Facebook Fan Pages: Businesses can now filter their updates, notes, photos, and anything else – by area and language!

As you can see, the form is pretty straight-forward, and allows you to choose several cities or states, as well as several languages. So you can send a message in spanish to all spanish speakers, and then send the same on in english to all english speakers without any of them having to ever see the others!

Also, once you have done this, people who have the ability to see the posting you’ve just posted can now also see how they were reached – by hovering over the Filter button and seeing the list of specifications you’ve provided in your filtering:

This is going to be key especially for companies that have several branches nationwide. Companies can now send out promotions to area-specific demographics, and also send out announcements by time zone!

TV Networks can find this useful – by posting TV Listing times separately.

These are just some examples of how this targeting can work. I’m sure my readers can think of many more! Let me know what you think this feature can be used for to maximize business potential on Facebook.
