How to Convert Twitter Lists into RSS Feeds
Remember October of 2009 when Twitter Lists were all the hype? Twitter Lists were going to be the next big thing, and was going to change everything. Remember? Of course you don’t – it’s so 2009. Well, it didn’t end up changing everything, but it did become quite the way to watch a stream of people someone else found important! Also, have you ever been put on a list and felt strangely honored to be on it? There! Twitter Lists are a bit of a big deal after all.
Why would I do such a thing?
The biggest problem with Twitter Lists is the ability to watch them on a regular basis. You don’t want to watch a twitter stream of 10 of the best bloggers for 4 seconds. You want it to sit there on your RSS feed and update with all the great awesomeness they have to offer!
How to Add Twitter Lists to your RSS Reader
It’s a 3 step process, and it’s really quite simple! Just bare with me here:
Step 1: Go to the List Page & Copy URL
Some blogs will tell you that must add the list to Listorious before getting the RSS feed. Nothing could be farther from the truth, and you mustn’t listen to everything you hear.
All you need to do is go to the Twitter List you want to add, find the list’s page, and get the URL. The list URL should look something like this:
Now that you’ve captured that nifty URL, it’s time to do the only other step in this process.
Step 2: Go to Twitter List 2 RSS (which was created by @voidfiles), Paste the URL, and click “Get an RSS Feed”
That’s all. Once you’ve completed that step, you’ve got an RSS feed URL given right to you!
Now you can paste that URL into any RSS reader (I use Google ReaderGoogle Reader
), and enjoy semi-limiting the firehose that is Twitter’sTwitter
content flow!
Enjoy!
