Twitter CEO Announces Twitter’s New Feature: “At Anywhere”

Evan Williams of TwitterTwitterTwitter is on stage as we speak announcing Twitter’s newest feature – the “@Anywhere” feature. The feature, as we understand from his explanation on stage, will allow publications and websites to more seamlessly integrate twitter actions into their site.

Williams gave one example of how this feature can be used: If you’re reading a columnist you really enjoy and want to follow them on Twitter, you can do so directly from their site without having to go to Twitter. This solves the big problem Twitter had with Discovery (including the controversy about suggested users.)

Evan mentioned that the main purpose of this feature is to lower the barrier so more people feel comfortable participating in Twitter.

According to Twitter, the companies that will be using @Anywhere when it comes out are: Amazon, AdAgeAdAgeAdAge, BingBingBing, Citysearch, DiggDiggDigg, eBay, The Huffington Post, Meebo, MSNBC.com, The New York Times, Salesforce.com, Yahoo!, and YouTubeYouTubeYouTube.

A great side feature to this is that instead of a difficult API, the developers only need to drop in a few lines of javascript!
