Happy 5th Birthday, Mashable!

5 years ago today, Pete Cashmore opened a WordPressWordPressWordPress account and started blogging. He wrote about interesting, intriguing, newsworthy developments in a still very very new social media world. So new, in fact, that one of his first articles was about whether or not GoogleGoogleGoogle will become a web storage application. The word ‘cloud’ didn’t exist yet.

Mashable also have a great infographic today going through the various iterations of MashableMashableMashable since its inception!

Despite Mashable’s roaring and unquestionable success, they haven’t forgotten where they came from – and still whenever I write an article about Mashable, or mention them online, I get a nice ping from either Pete or someone else there commenting or thanking me for the mention. They’re a great group of people, and a great set of journos, too!
