YouTube Trying to Start #SubSaturday on Twitter

Recently, YouTubeYouTubeYouTube have made it much easier for users to find friends through Facebook, Yahoo!, and GmailGmailGmail (which has been possible for a while.) Now, they’re taking on Twitter with a new hashtag attempt. The hashtag is #SubSaturday, short for Subscription Saturday, and it will encourage people to recommend others for subscription the same way #FollowFriday recommends friends for following on Fridays.

Social Media Marketing Explained via Information Superhighway Metaphor

I’ve tried explaining Social Mediasocial mediasocial media to lots of people in different ways – and each explanation varied mostly depending on what the person I was explaining to was like. If they were not computer savvy, I might start off by explaining IM, Message boards etc, and working my way towards where we are today. If they were computer savvy but still skeptical, I might show them ways they might be able to use social media to their advantage. If they’re into sports, I can show them how MLB or the NBA are using Social Media, or how football players tweet!

My Personal Poem for 2009 (What’s Yours?)

I just got through reading Diana Adams’ post on BitRebels.com entitled 10 Lessons I learned on Twitter. A lot of it might have seemed obvious (e.g. ignore online bullies, be open-minded), but definitely needed stating – and was true, and exactly to the point. Diana Is a great writer, and I urge you to read that post.

2 Commenting Systems that Eat others for Breakfast

The interweb has been bombarded with new ways to do everything. Some of it stick, and some of it sucks. But one thing’s for sure – when something does come around that’s truly great – it gets noticed, gets used, gets spread, and becomes a regular every-day-use feature in our 1000+ click days. Commenting systems are no different. While Blogger, in my eyes, is a complete failure in general – its commenting system sucks even more. Its text-editing has no kitchen sink, and their idea of innovation is to finally allow you to sign in with WordPressWordPressWordPress, TypePadTypePadTypePad, and Google IDs. Fan-freaking-tastic. WordPress.com has its limitations – but at least they’re explainable – and have a self-hosting do-whatever-you-want alternative. Meh – didn’t really raise any eyebrows for me. And I only have two – so raising all my eyebrows shouldn’t be difficult.
